Build Group is a general contractor focused on providing a high level of ­service to our clientele. The owners have an in-depth ­understanding of their clients’ business and are committed to providing principal level involvement on all ­projects. To them client relationships are everything, and are driven by trust and integrity. Consequently, Build Group clients depend on the company to act as an extension of their own organizations. While most general contractors are simply pricing plans, Build Group staff sources new real estate opportunities to figure out creative ways to make deals pencil.

Build Group has grown consistently since its ­inception. Employee owned, the company now has more than 400 staff members. In 2015 alone, Build Group has been named a Largest Commercial Contractor in the Bay Area, Healthiest Employer, Fastest Growing Private Company, and a Best Place to Work in the Bay Area.

In 2015, Build Group expanded operations to Southern California. This new office location supports all company business units and is be led by Todd Pennington. Initial successes have been in retail sectors but several other preconstruction efforts are underway for hospitality, commercial office, and residential clients.

Long time colleagues Ross Edwards, Eric Horn, Bob Hopper, and Dave Williams came together in 2007 to form Build Group. Shortly thereafter, John Santori, Nathan Rundel, Ron Yen, and Todd Pennington joined the team.

Combined, the leadership group has more than 250 years of construction experience and has played integral roles in some of the most prominent and complex buildings constructed up and down California. Build Group was formed with a goal of working closely with clients and driving innovation within the industry. With that in mind, they created a flat company structure that minimizes middle management and allows the Principals to remain close to the project, while entrusting employees to own their work. Their willingness to roll up their sleeves and do work has cultivated a construction company full of true revolutionary builders.

Ross Edwards

A third generation California builder, Ross brings nearly 30 years of leadership experience and specialized expertise in structural concrete and steel to Build Group/Pacific Structures. In 2007, Ross cofounded Build Group with a vision of creating a unique culture where employees are empowered to become true expert builders. Working closely with clients as CEO, he constantly drives innovation and provides principal level involvement on projects. His extensive repeat client base attests to his relentlessness to deliver superior quality.

Eric Horn

A top tier leader of the Bay Area building community, Eric brings more than 30 years of building expertise in the construction industry. In 2007, Eric cofounded Build Group with a mission of gathering a group of builders together that are committed to making real, innovative, and definable differences in the built environment. As COO, Eric directs construction activities for the company and oversees company operations to manage processes, profit, systems, and workforce organization. He also leads the company's marketing and entrepreneurial endeavors into new markets.

Bob Hopper

Bob is a master builder who applies more than 40 years of construction experience to determine the project schedule, site logistics and overall constructability to net an efficient, buildable design. The plethora of projects that Bob has been apart of, are a credit to his passion for the business and commitment to pre-planning. Each aspect of his experience, make Bob a valuable member of the re-construction team, and help lead to optimal designs well in advance of breaking ground.

Stephen Nerheim

Stephen brings more than 20 years of managerial and hands-on experience to Build Group’s accounting, finance, risk management and IT groups. As Build Group’s CFO, Stephen’s belief in delivering “Excellence in Customer Service” permeates every interaction both internally and externally. Stephen strives to elicit a truly value added approach from the support functions of the firm – knowing all along that great teamwork leads to effective communication and ultimately a strong bottom line.

Nathan Rundel

Nathan is a well-rounded professional with more than 16 years of experience working in commercial development and construction. He leads the Estimating and Preconstruction departments at Build Group, where he ensures that projects begin successfully. With a thorough understanding of cost and schedule for all major building components and types, Nathan is a strong conceptualizer who helps client’s nail down costs at project inception.

Todd Pennington

Todd Pennington is a construction industry veteran with over 30 years of experience in developing and constructing projects from Florida to California. Todd serves as President of Southern California operations and leverages his experience and relationships to position the company in this region across all business units, including ground up, tenant improvements, and structures.

Ron Yen

Ron Yen is the Managing Principal of Build Group's Interior and Special Projects group. With almost 20 years of experience in the construction industry, Ron is responsible for staffing manpower on all projects in addition to leading operations and preconstruction efforts for retail, hospitality, healthcare, life science, and higher education projects. He brings a unique perspective as managing principal with a background as a General Superintendent and Project Executive.
