Safety Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the EHS Vice President, the Safety Manager is responsible for implementing, managing, and monitoring health and safety programs across construction projects to ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA standards, and other federal, state, and local regulations. This role plays a critical part in promoting a strong safety culture, preventing workplace injuries, and ensuring safe working conditions for all employees and subcontractors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and oversee site-specific safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments of construction sites, equipment, and work practices.
  • Identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and verify resolution of safety issues.
  • Lead incident investigations, prepare reports, and recommend preventative measures.
  • Provide training, toolbox talks, and ongoing education to employees and subcontractors on safety protocols and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor adherence to applicable safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and field personnel to proactively address safety.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety records, reports, and documentation.
  • Participate in safety meetings, committee activities, and cross-functional initiatives to strengthen the organization’s safety culture.
  • Serve as a point of contact for regulatory agencies during inspections or inquiries.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a minimum of 3 years of safety management experience in the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards, construction safety practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong communication, training, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend effective solutions.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify risks.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Collaborative approach with field teams and management.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and building a culture of safety.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Certifications such as OSHA 30, CHST and STS-C certification strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
