Staff Accountant
POSITION SUMMARY
Build Group is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This position plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, and general ledger maintenance. The ideal candidate is eager to learn the construction industry, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to accuracy and process improvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process and code vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner
- Assist with lien releases and billings
- Support collections efforts and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Assist with month-end close processes including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation
- Assist with year-end audit preparation and provide supporting documentation as needed
- Maintain compliance with company policies and internal controls
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, construction industry preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, start-up-like environment
- Experience with construction accounting software (Plexxis, Procore, Sage, Textura, or similar) desirable
- Familiarity with construction industry concepts such as job costing, WIP, and lien releases a plus
