Preconstruction Estimator, Tenant Improvement and Special Projects
The Preconstruction Estimator for Tenant Improvement and Special Projects will be responsible for analyzing and preparing project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare accurate and timely cost estimates and bids for retail, restaurant, office and hospitality, as well as special projects, including seismic, public work, healthcare, life science and institutional. This position is on-site in our San Francisco office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze blueprints, drawings, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, material, and labor estimates.
- Consult with clients, vendors, and other departments to discuss and formulate estimates.
- Prepare cost and expenditure reports and other necessary documentation at regular intervals.
- Assess cost-effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
- Simulate variables and predict the effect of changes.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to determine the best fit for the project budget and scope.
- Maintain a database of pricing, historical data, and project outcomes to improve future estimations.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in preconstruction estimating.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional ability to multi-task, prioritize and execute completion of tasks with the highest level of quality.
- Ability to work independently, exercise discretion, apply common sense, and ask for help or clarification when needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to create concise, clear emails and presentation of work.
- Solid computer skills with such programs as: Bluebeam, Timberline, Salesforce and MS Office.
