InterContinental San Francisco is a multi-phase hospitality renovation program located at 888 Howard Street in San Francisco’s South of Market district. Build Group delivered a comprehensive series of tenant improvement projects between 2017 and 2022, encompassing building envelope upgrades, guestroom and corridor renovations across 28 floors, meeting and ballroom renovations, and a full restaurant transformation.

The program addressed the need to maintain the competitiveness of a 32-story, 550-room luxury hotel serving the adjacent Moscone Convention Center while remaining fully operational. Build Group executed multiple concurrent and sequential projects within an active hotel environment, coordinating construction activities around peak occupancy periods, convention schedules, and continuous guest operations. Work included exterior glazing replacement on floors 1-6, large-scale interior demolition and finish upgrades, and complex multi-level sequencing across guestroom floors and public spaces.

The renovation introduced upgraded guestroom finishes, refreshed meeting and event spaces, enhanced building envelope performance, and a reimagined dining experience anchored by the LUCE restaurant and Bar 888. The program also incorporated energy-efficient systems and low-emitting materials aligned with California Title 24 requirements.

This multi-year engagement demonstrates Build Group’s ability to deliver large-scale, high-design hospitality renovations through sustained client partnership and precise execution within an occupied luxury hotel environment.
