M.Y. China is a full interior restaurant build-out located at the Westfield San Francisco Centre, developed as the signature dining concept for internationally recognized television chef Martin Yan. The approximately 7,000-square-foot space delivers a 181-seat, exhibition-style dining experience designed to highlight both culinary performance and refined interior design.
Build Group completed the construction of this upscale restaurant, coordinating a complex interior build-out within the active urban retail environment of the San Francisco Centre at 865 Market Street. The project included the construction of a commercial kitchen, bar, dining areas, and supporting back-of-house infrastructure required for full-service restaurant operations.
The interior design blends contemporary restaurant construction with traditional Chinese design elements. Architectural features include custom eucalyptus woodwork, intricate laser-cut metal screens, and carefully curated antique Chinese furnishings that establish a sophisticated dining atmosphere. At the center of the restaurant, a circular bar is anchored by a dramatic 1,800-pound antique bell imported from China, creating a memorable focal point and reinforcing the restaurant’s cultural narrative.
The completed space delivers an immersive dining environment that combines theatrical presentation, craftsmanship, and hospitality within one of San Francisco’s most prominent retail destinations.
