The Hog Island Oyster Co. project consisted of the renovation and expansion of a 1,614 SF restaurant located within the historic San Francisco Ferry Building in San Francisco, California. The work increased the restaurant’s capacity to over 130 seats while maintaining operations within an active waterfront facility on a working dock.
The project included construction of a full-service commercial kitchen and bar along with associated equipment and service infrastructure. Interior improvements included installation of custom concrete service counters, reclaimed cypress millwork, banquette seating, and handmade tile finishes throughout the dining and bar areas.
Additional specialty architectural features included installation of an oyster-shell bar top and a custom curved wood ceiling designed by CCS Architecture to replicate the interior hull of a boat. The ceiling installation required detailed coordination with the architectural design and integration with the existing historic structure.
Construction required careful logistical coordination due to the project’s location within the Ferry Building and its proximity to active waterfront operations.
